Small miracles can be overlooked, which is a tragedy.

My friend Julie and I were sitting on our new boss's back porch when this little Orange Fritterlarie started darting around. He landed on my toe first and then, after flying away and back several times, worked his way up to my hand. I just kept holding my breath, expecting him to fly away, feeling the miniscule sticky tips of his stringy legs and the brush of his wings against my fingers. No matter how much I moved or jarred him he kept coming back.

I have never in my life had a butterfly land on me, anywhere. And the first time one does he hangs out for a half an hour.

I felt very honored and humbled to have something so delicate seek me out.

And I realized, at first I was so afraid of doing something to scare him off, and he was so beautiful...
but if the beauty is really meant for you, then you can't chase him away.
